Pinebrook Reinvented
After 16 months of negotiations, we are excited to announce that Whole Foods Market will open in 2015! Mobile is one of 10 new locations nationwide that Whole Foods Market plans to open in 2014 and beyond. This store alone is slated to create between 40 and 60 jobs. Philip Burton, CEO of Burton Property Group, said, “A tenant like Whole Foods allows Pinebrook to raise the bar for local retail and provide a higher-level shopping experience to the consumers of Mobile.”
Bringing Whole Foods Market to Pinebrook will allow us to breathe new life into the shopping center. The redevelopment project will kick-off in June 2013. Before Whole Foods Market can claim its spot in Pinebrook, sequential shuffling of some of the major big-box retailers must happen first.

First up for construction and shuffling is Books-A-Million (BAM). BAM will move into the former Sand Dollar suite. Construction on the former Sand Dollar suite will begin in June. Once BAM has moved into their new suite, Stein Mart will then move into the former BAM suite, with Whole Foods moving into the former Stein Mart space.

As each of these stores shuffle, improvements to the façades and store interiors will be made. This will act as the kick-off for Pinebrook’s visible facelift.

“I am thrilled to be able to improve the retail market in Mobile, and welcome Whole Foods come to the market. A new BAM, Stein Mart and Whole Foods allows for greater co-tenancy options,” Burton said.
